PART TRADING: If you have parts you would like to trade please do so at r/partIt The weekend manager and cashier know better now.Join the /r/MechanicAdvice IRC for instant conversations with other users on libera.chat irc network. The item went on clearance at the lower price, but the settlement was for the full amount. Weekend manager got an earful from the other manager. I was given the appropriate cash settlement. UPDATE: Manager on duty during the week settled the matter. The whole time I told them this was a 'product safety recall' with the NHTSA. They denied knowing about the recall and shifted blame to me for not showing them the details. They treated this as a store return at the value that they sold it for instead of the recall refund/credit. Waiting another 3 - 5 business days for the outcome. I had to sign the transaction tape, take the store credit card, and call the phone number for Customer Service to escalate the return with the 'DM' of the store. The manager threatened to throw the store credit card away as a 'done deal'. Since the cashier had issued a store credit card, I refused to sign the transaction register tape. At that point, I had to argue with the manager that the refund was supposed to be cash $24.99 + sales tax. The cashier rang up a refund of $21.29 ($19.97 + $1.32 sales tax in NJ). They wouldn't continue unless I provided personal info. Today I returned 3-ton steel stands (69597).
